An air handler is the indoor component of your HVAC system that moves air through your home. It pairs with a heat pump or air conditioning unit. An air handler looks a little like a furnace, where all of the parts are in an encased unit. It houses the evaporator coils, a blower, and ventilation parts, including an air filter.
When paired with a central air conditioner, the air handler circulates cool air in the summer. When paired with a heat pump, the unit circulates cool air in the summer and heated air in the colder months.
