High-Performance HVAC to Power a Greener Tomorrow

What’s driving the refrigerant changes?

Starting on January 1, 2025, industry regulations will require newly manufactured HVAC systems to use refrigerants with low global warming potential.

What does that mean for homeowners?

Our new HVAC products won’t just use more eco-friendly refrigerant — many of the new designs operate more efficiently, helping you save money on energy bills and potentially qualify for additional incentives.

What’s next for your HVAC System?

American Standard will continue to service HVAC systems that use traditional refrigerants. When your system requires service, an American Standard pro can help you decide whether to repair your current system or replace it with a newer model.

Engineered for Excellence

For years, most HVAC products used a refrigerant called R-410A. However, to comply with regulations that start in January 2025, we’re offering a new lineup of equipment that uses a more environmentally-friendly refrigerant: R-454B. Using this refrigerent means our new systems will achieve zero ozone depletion potential and reduce global warming potential by 78% compared to traditional refrigerant.

We’ve been testing products with R-454B behind the scenes for years to ensure they deliver the reliable performance American Standard is known for. R-454B is designed to meet current and future refrigerant regulations, so you can rest easy — and comfortably — for years to come.

Greater Efficiency,
Greater Savings

Many of our new products, like heat pumps, operate more efficiently than the HVAC units that came before them. These efficiency improvements mean big potential savings for homeowners. Many American Standard systems qualify for incentives as part of the Inflation Reduction Act’s Energy Efficient Home Improvement Tax Credit. Plus, increased system efficiency can help lower your home’s energy use over time and save you money on utility bills year-round.

Rest Easy with
New Safety Features

We design all of our HVAC systems to bring homeowners the best in safety, comfort, and peace of mind. Find out how our new Refrigerant Detection System uses leak detection technology to help keep your family safe.
